Like many of you we have been sitting here in disbelief as the aftermath of Cyclone Gabrielle has unfolded. Of those who were unaffected, many of us want to help but don’t quite know which avenue to take. Many people are still unable to access their homes and their belongings - many have lost everything.

Here at The Conference Company we have chosen to support The Hawkes Bay Disaster Relief Fund which has been reactivated as a means to allow donations to get direct to the source. Set up for the same purpose during the 2020 droughts, Hawke’s Bay’s Mayors and Regional Council Chair have reactivated the Trust so that people can give knowing their donations will be spent on the most urgently needed support for the people and communities who need it most. If you are looking to help we ask that our friends, family, trusted partners and clients get behind it too. 

We have set up a dedicated account and we here at The Conference Company will cover the transaction charges so that 100% of your donation goes directly to The Hawkes Bay Disaster Relief Fund. You can be sure that your donation is going where you intended it to.

We will be collecting donations until Easter (Sunday 9 April, 2023) and we will be sending the total amount over by Friday 14 April, 2023).

The need is great, and it is ongoing. As highlighted on the Hawkes Bay Regional Council website “The scale of the devastation and destruction across Te Matau a Māui Hawke’s Bay is, quite frankly, apocalyptic. Lives have been lost and livelihoods have been literally swept away. Whole communities have been destroyed and many people have been left with nothing but the clothes they were wearing when they were rescued from rooftops as the floodwaters struck.” So, let’s rally together and do all we can.
